What makes electric bikes special is their pedal assist system (PAS). PAS allows the cyclist to pedal but in a more comfortable and efficient way.
The bike can be ridden entirely by pedaling, using only the motor, or with a combination of both (PAS). In PAS mode, the bike's computer detects pedaling and activates the motor to assist and power the ride.

The bike came mostly assembled and got to me fast! I was surprised to see the box on my front door within 2 days of my purchase. The bike is heavy, so loading it on a bike rack takes some learning. The thing is fast and easy to ride, the only issue I have with it is the 1st gear clicks a bit. Beside that small issue, it's fun to ride.
